Useful Information about Flooring Warranties

If you are thinking of installing new floors in your house then, before hiring an Atlanta flooring service for the job, you should know that some companies offer a lifetime installation warranty but others don’t offer a warranty at all. So before you sign any written agreement with an Atlanta flooring Company here are a few useful information about floor warranties.

First you need to know that a flooring installation warranty covers the contractor’s labor and the quality of the work in the floor installation process and it should be provided by the Atlanta flooring service you’ve employed to do the project. You must be careful before signing anything because if something is wrong with the product and it needs to be replaced then the new flooring could be covered by the warranty, but with some companies you might end up paying in full for the second installation.

You should always ask a company to give you everything in writing because some of them tend to lie about things covered by warranty. If you didn’t know, only written agreements are covered by a federal law, so if you do not have this certificate with the flooring company you’ve hired then a formal complaint is useful against them. Before signing on the dotted line you should carefully read the paperwork. A warranty must include names of the parties, the warranty period, what services and products are covered by the warranty, how to claim the warranty, how will the warrantor respond to your claims, limitations and exclusions of the warranty.

Another thing to pay attention to is who issues the warranty. You must always make sure the warranty comes from the company you’ve hired and not from its employees or contractors. Even if the contractor is a serious person, if he leaves the company and your warranty is just between you and he then you are left high and dry.

The warranty involves other institutions beside you and the company you’ve hired. For example the Federal Trade Commission protects consumer’s rights and interests and they are the ones who have the final word when it comes to warranty law. Another useful guideline for all warranties is the Uniform Commercial Code which is a set of laws that provide regulations and legal rules for business or commercial transactions or dealings.

When reading a warranty document you should watch out for disclaimers. Practically these are the opposite of a warranty and they state what the company is not promising. So paying attention to the installation disclaimers is just as important as being careful about warranty terms because they will both save you the trouble of paying extra money to fix a crappy flooring installation job.
